Welcome to Paeroa College

Nau mai haera mai ki te kura tuarua o Paeroa.

A very warm welcome to Paeroa College.

Nestled in the heart of the charming rural town of Paeroa, Paeroa College is a state co-educational secondary school (years 9-13) with a rich history dating back to 1958. Our expansive grounds boast a beautiful campus of modern classrooms and specialised facilities, all designed with an intentional environmental focus. Paeroa College is an integral part of the local community inspiring our students in the classroom, on the sports field, and throughout their lives beyond school.

Our school motto, "Mahi Tahi Kia Kaha," encapsulates our core value: through dedicated teamwork and hard work, we achieve remarkable things. At Paeroa College, we prioritise academic excellence while fostering individual growth. We prioritise strong partnerships with whānau and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This ensures every student's learning journey is personalised and tailored to their unique needs and aspirations. Our flexible and integrated curriculum places student needs at the forefront of every learning experience. This personalised approach empowers all students to achieve their NCEA goals and confidently pursue their desired pathways, whether it's further education, vocational training, or entering the workforce.

Our dedicated team of Deans, Counselors, Nurses, and Careers Advisors collaborate closely to provide comprehensive pastoral support for all our young people. This holistic approach ensures they receive the care and guidance necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Beyond academics, Paeroa College thrives on sporting and cultural excellence. Our Kapa Haka group is a treasured tradition, both for the school and the wider community. We boast a strong sporting legacy, with successful teams in rugby, touch, football, basketball, netball, motocross and lacrosse. These teams consistently achieve high standards, often claiming top spots in local Hauraki and Thames Valley competitions.

Our four Houses – Tara, Ngakotu, Rapiri, and Maru – are the heart of our school spirit. The House competition fosters a vibrant school culture by recognising all aspects of school life, from attendance and academic achievement to sports and community service. It provides every student with valuable opportunities to contribute and celebrate their daily successes.

Paeroa College is deeply connected to our community. We actively engage in service projects and strive to be positive contributors to the town we call home. While we may be a smaller school, we possess a big heart and a strong sense of pride in both Paeroa and our college.
